Daníel Bjarnason is one of Iceland’s foremost musical voices today, increasingly in demand as a composer, conductor and curator.
Recent commissions include the piano trio White Flags, commissioned by Storioni Festival Muziekgebouw Eindhoven; Laughing Song for the Los Angeles Children’s Choir; and We Came in Peace (for All Mankind), a new work for 12 Horns commissioned by the Holland Festival. His Violin Concerto, co-commissioned by the Los Angeles Philharmonic and Iceland Symphony Orchestra, saw its world premiere at the Hollywood Bowl with Gustavo Dudamel and soloist Pekka Kuusito and has since had numerous performances across Europe and North America.
