Contents:  Alois Beerhalter was born in Merklingen at Neresheim (Germany) in 1800. He was a proficient performer on the Flute, Trumpet, Clarinet, Violoncello, and Trombone. He was also such a (completely self-taught) virtuoso on the Basset Horn that his contemporaries hailed him as a "second Paganini" of that instrument. Alois Beerhalter died in Stuttgart on March 21st, 1852.
