Cage Encounters At The NYPL

06/05/2016
Celebrated Cage pianist Adam Tendler Performs
The New York Public Library for the Performing Arts has been entertaining music lovers with a multi-faceted series on the music of John Cage. Called Cage Encounters, the series seeks to engage the audience through workshops, exhibits, and performances to allow for a deeper understanding of Cage’s music. The next events in the series occur tomorrow, Saturday May 7th at 11AM and 2:30PM.
The 11AM event is a rare experience in which audience members will help Mr. Tendler “prepare” his piano and then hear him perform an excerpt of 34’46.776” on the finished product. Later at 2:30PM, Mr. Tendler will give a full recital of various Cage piano works which is accompanied by a pop-up exhibition displaying original Cage manuscripts. This presentation will enable Tendler and Library artistic producer Evan Leslie to begin a conversation about Cage and his works to enhance the audience experience.

Tickets for Cage Encounters: Prepare Our Piano for 34'46.776” can be reserved at the event website.
Tickets for Cage Encounters: Adam Tendler on John Cage’s Piano Works are free and are on a first come, first served basis and are only available at the door.
