Wuorinen’s Megalith

Commissioned Work to get New York Premiere at the Guggenheim
Megalith, written for piano and 15 players , is the latest work of Charles Wuorinen’s making premieres this year. Commissioned by the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra, The Tanglewood Music Center, and Works and Process at the Guggenheim Museum, New York, Megalith made its world premiere on April 20, 2015 in St. Paul, MN and received its East Coast Premiere on July 23, 2015 at the Tanglewood Music Center. The Tanglewood Music Center celebrated its 75th year and marked this milestone with several premieres of commissioned works at its Festival of Contemporary Music (July 20-27) which included Wuorinen’s Megalith. It now is set to make its New York premiere on November 2, 2015 at the Guggenheim Museum in New York City with Peter Serkin on piano and Wuorinen conducting. Spectrum Dance Theatre will also be present to perform Donald Byrd's Septet which is set to Wuorinen's Second String Quartet. For ticket and other information, please follow the link below.
