Crumb At Julliard

Celebrating The Composer’s 85th With American Songbooks
On Monday, April 13 at 8 PM, the Julliard Percussion Ensemble will be performing two installments of George Crumb’s American Songbooks at the school’s Alice Tully Hall. Crumb, who recently turned 85, has to date completed seven volumes in this series, making it the longest song cycle in Western music history. The River of Life and The Winds of Destiny are both scored for voice, amplified piano, and percussion quartet and the concert will feature over 100 different percussion instruments. Singers Caitlin Redding and Tiffany Townsend will be performing alongside the percussionists. Click here to learn more about this concert.
