Bernd Franke At Julliard

NJE to Perform US Premiere of New Work
On September 20 at 8 P.M., the New Julliard Ensemble will be giving the U.S. premiere performance of German composer Bernd Franke's new work, entitled Veil I, at the conservatory's Sharp Theater. As the title indicates, this is the first piece in a new cycle which will feature a mini-symphonic ensemble moving between composed segments and structured improvisation. Under the direction of conductor Joel Sachs, the NJE will also be performing the New York premiere of a new work by Harrison Birtwistle and the world premiere of a new work from Alessandro Annunziata. Tickets are free and available through Julliard's website.
