Latvian Publisher's Music Now Available in the USA
C.F. Peters is proud to announce that we are now the official American sub-publishers of Musica Baltica, a publisher dedicated to the publication and promotion of Latvian music.
Founded in 1994 and based in Riga, Latvia, Musica Baltica represents the music of a wide range of Latvian composers. Their catalog includes choral and instrumental works of international reknown by the likes of Rihards Dubra and Georgs Pelēcis, early music by 16th-century Rigan masters, and new pieces by composers just crossing over to audiences outside of the Baltic states.
One composer whose work is rapidly gaining notice in the United States and elsewhere is Ēriks Eenvalds (pictured). His compositional voice incorporates the subtlest traces of mystical and avant-garde technique into a musical language that is overwhelmingly direct, melodic and singable, and demand for his music is increasing among choruses across the U.S. Most recently, the English version of Esenvalds' Long Road has been selected by the Utah All-State Choir, a youth choir of over 750 voices, for an October 13 performance at the Mormon Tabernacle in Salt Lake City.
Peters greatly looks forward to introducing the music of Eenvalds, and Musica Baltica's entire catalogue of Latvian composers, to more performers and listeners in the Americas.
