Reynolds's 80th

Celebration at UC San Diego
Beginning on Wednesday, February 3, UC San Diego will be holding a 3-day long celebration of Pulitzer Prize-winning Edition Peters composer Roger Reynolds' 80th birthday. Events will include a symposium on Feb. 3, a concert on Feb. 4, and a multimedia installation that will remain open for all three days. The symposium is titled The Interaction of Scientific and Artistic Imagination: Perceptual Studies and the Making of Music and will feature a roundtable discussion involving Reynolds himself alongside an international selection of university professors and researchers. The concert will feature the London-based Arditti Quartet, who have recorded and commissioned numerous pieces from Reynolds over the years, performing a selection of the composer's works for string quartet and electronics. Finally, the installation will focus on three of the composer's multimedia works: Ping, Sanctuary, and george WASHINGTON, curated by Reynolds collaborator Ross Karre. All
events will be held at the Conrad Prebys Music Center on the UC San Diego campus. Visit the university's music department calendar to learn more about these events by clicking here.
