Music Community Mourns the Loss of Champion of American New Music
C.F. Peters was saddened to learn of the passing of Edwin London on January 26th, 2013. Mr. London’s association with Peters began with his BRASS QUINTET in 1973 and continued well into the 21st century with GYPSY HEIRS, SCENES and other works. In all, Peters has published thirty compositions by Mr. London. In addition to his work as a composer, Mr. London will also be remembered for his championing of American music in the latter half of the 20th century. Via the Cleveland Chamber Orchestra, which he founded in 1980, he commissioned, premiered and recorded dozens of new works. His passing is a blow to the American new music scene.
