Halim El-Dabh celebrated his 90th birthday on 4 March, 2011. He was born in Egypt in 1921 and studied at the university in Cairo, the University of New Mexico, Brandeis and the New England Conservatory. His best known works were written for the Martha Graham Dance Company in the 1950ís, 60ís and 70ís.
Clytemnestra, the most celebrated of the works on which he collaborated with Graham, was revived by her company in 2009 and performed around the world. The BBC Symphony Orchestra performed it in January 2011.
