CATcerto Recognized By Guinness Book Of World Records

01/01/2011
Plus free download of Nora's Theme
The CATCERTO, the work by Lithuanian composer and conductor Mindaugas Piečaitis inspired by the viral videos of Nora the Cat, is now available for rent from C.F. Peters Corporation.

You've seen Nora on YouTube, and so have the people at the Guinness Book of World Records. On October 12, 2010, they notified composer Mindaugas Piečaitis that his work was granted a record as being the first piano concerto for a cat.

Now there's no reason for you to keep your paws off the piano. This link will take you to a free PDF of the Main Themes from CATcerto. Recommended for pianists with small hands, this selection is a natural.

For those not familiar with Nora, she is a cat that is owned by a woman who gives piano lessons. Nora spontaneously began playing the piano--not in the usual cat way, with paws hitting random keys as they saunter across the keyboard, but by sitting on the piano bench and deliberately pressing the keys in front of her.
