Born in 1968, the pianist Ulrich Deppe initially completed a degree in Instrument Pedagogy at the Musikhochschule in Köln. He subsequently studied at the Musikhochschule Heidelberg-Mannheim under Professor Barbara Fry, majoring in piano, and later under Professor Jürgen Glauss at the Musikhochshule Köln, majoring in Lied Interpretation. In 1996 he received a scholarship from the German Music Competition in the Piano Accompaniment category. He has been a pianist at the International Flute Festival in Lima since 1999, and gives master classes at that city's Music Conservatory. In 2000, he and bass-baritone Andreas Czerney founded the Liedduo Köln and perform in concert as well as pursuing their primary purpose of teaching young people. Ulrich Deppe began composing when only ten; the compositions he is currently working on are pieces mainly intended for his pupils and students.
