C.F. Peters Launches Extreme Guitar Project Series

With AMYGDALA by Elliot Sharp C.F. Peters launches the EXTREME GUITAR PROJECT series of contemporary solo guitar works. This series, curated and edited by the internationally respected guitarist Marco Cappelli, is the publication of works commissioned, performed and recorded by Mr. Cappelli. These works,which can be heard on the Mode CD number 157, will be a substantial addition to the guitar repertory. Other composers associated with this series are AnthonyColeman, Nick Didkowsky, Erik Friedlander, Annie Gosfield, Ikue Mori, Marc Ribot, David Shea, Mark Stewart and Otomo Yshihide. Plans are also in the works for a second recording.

AMYGDALA incorporates extended guitar techniques, which although fairly common in the 21st century, may be new to some. The guitar is tuned to an open D minor chord and makes extensive use of tapping and harmonics. These and other techniques are used in a very musical and beautiful way. Sharp offers us wonderful opportunity to learn and perfect these techniques in a rewarding context.
