New CDs from the American Wind Symphony The American Wind Symphony has recently released two new CDs of music from its extensive catalog. The CDs entitled REFLECTIONS and MUSIC OF THE AMERICAS combine some never before recorded AWSO classics with newer works. The music of David Amram, Colin McPhee and Heitor Villa-Lobos is heard alongside works by Enrique Santos and Emilio Atehortua on the the MUSIC OF THE AMERICAS CD. While on the REFLECTIONS CD works by Angel Amparo, Lee Bracegirdle, David Morgan, Rolf Rudin and SergeiTcherepnin are presented with works by Alexander Arutiunian and Andrei Petrov. These CDs offer a glimpse into the extensive collection of works commissioned by the AWSO, which under the direction of Robert Boudreau has been fostering new music for symphonic wind orchestra for the past 50 years. The AWSO is also preparing to return to the waterways of America this summer and has already booked concerts in Riverhead, NY, Narraganset, RI and New Haven, CT. Stay tuned for more detailed information.
